Vehicles in Germany's Town Discovered Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Authorities mentioned they were notified by a individual who noticed a automobile in Hanau smeared with red-colored substance

Approximately fifty cars have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.

Vehicles, walls and mailboxes were vandalized, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they stated in a statement.

Police state they were notified during the night on Wednesday, when a resident observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.

The liquid had been placed in the form of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Police then discovered multiple other marked automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.

Swastikas are banned in Germany under regulations prohibiting the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.

Law enforcement state preliminary tests show the substance was most likely blood from a person.

"There is still no indication as to where it came from; authorities are currently not cognizant of any harm in relation with the event," they stated.

Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to unravel the mystery" and have asked to the community for tips.

An important official said the attack rendered him speechless and required to be resolved quickly.

"This incident affects the core of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing violent incident five years ago," he wrote on social media, referring to the death of nine individuals by a shooter targeting individuals of migrant background in February 2020.
